What is a Therahoop™?
The Therahoop™ is a revolutionary approach to health and fitness. The Therahoop™ was developed by two Naturopathic physicians, Dr. Cara Phillipo and Dr. Robert Madda, in search of a creative exercise modality to help their patients with the common complaints of weight management, back pain, PMS, infertility and digestion issues ~ just to name a few. They began exploring forms of exercise that moved the core of the body (the abdominal cavity, chest, back and spine). A healthy core is of utmost importance to a healthy body as this is where all of the major organs of the body exist. Also, it is in this region that the nerve roots emerge from the spine. The spinal nerve roots play a critical role in stimulating all of our vital organs and glands. Looking for an exercise to massage the abdominal organs, increase mobility in the spine and pelvis, improve physical fitness and invoke a sense of well-being ~ they developed the Therahoop™!
The Therahoop™ is a larger, heavier, therapeutic rendition of the smaller hula hoop available for children. The specific weight, diameter, thickness and surface area of the Therahoop™ contribute to its success as a therapeutic modality. These parameters also make it easy to maintain rotational speed and rhythm for adults of any size and shape! With every rotation of the hoop, we churn and accelerate the health of our bodies. The Therahoop™ offers a myriad of health benefits to its users, which are outlined in the section, Benefits of the Therahoop™. Check it out! The Therahoop™ is a form of exercise, physical therapy, dance, meditation, yoga and FUN …. At Therahoops™ we firmly believe that fun is healthy! Everyone can Therahoop™ regardless of age, size and sense of rhythm. Whether you’re young, old, a fitness buff or a couch potato the Therahoop™ can make you feel more fit and alive. All it takes is an “I can,” attitude.
The practice of Therahooping has earned respect and has been successfully implemented by many medical doctors, naturopathic doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists and fitness instructors with the goal of helping people feel better, move better, gain strength and eliminate pain. |
